Our Work in the Arts

In June 2023, The Gatsby Showcase Foundation proudly introduced its inaugural gifting suite, celebrating Broadway’s finest talents during the Tony Awards. This pioneering initiative was designed to spotlight performers who have historically been overlooked and underrepresented in the industry. Our gifting suite is a response to the systemic inequities that have long permeated award seasons, where marginalized artists have often faced barriers to recognition.

The 2023 Tony Awards marked a significant shift in the theater industry, with the groundbreaking victories of actors Alex Newell and J. Harrison Ghee. As the first non-binary performers to be honored at such a prestigious level, their triumphs symbolize not only personal achievement but also a broader cultural milestone in recognizing diverse talents. Their wins serve as inspiration for future generations of artists, encouraging them to break barriers and redefine what’s possible within the arts.

At The Gatsby Showcase Foundation, we are committed to supporting initiatives that empower artists from all backgrounds, ensuring that their voices are elevated and celebrated. Our gifting suite represents a meaningful step toward creating an inclusive platform, fostering a cultural landscape that reflects the true diversity of society.

As we continue our work, we remain unwavering in our dedication to advocating for change and celebrating the incredible talent within historically marginalized communities. Together, we are transforming the arts and amplifying the voices that have long been underrepresented.

By addressing systemic challenges beyond nominations and awards, we seek to create lasting change in the arts, ensuring that recognition and opportunity are accessible to all. With the success of our gifting suite, we look forward to continuing this vital work, shaping a more inclusive and vibrant future for the arts.
