Our Work in the Arts

This year, The Gatsby Showcase Foundation took part in the transformation driven by actors, producers and industry leaders demanding more for more equity and diversity in the industry.  The Gatsby Showcase Foundation launched the first ever gifting suite celebrating artists who haven’t had access to the spotlight. Award seasons have been plagued by the discrimination and underrepresentation of marginalized performers. Our gifting suite’s aim was to shed light on the systemic issues beyond nominating and awarding historically marginalized, minoritized, and underrepresented groups.

In a remarkable departure from its seventy-five-year legacy, the Tony Awards shattered a longstanding barrier by recognizing the talent and contributions of actors like Alex Newell and J. Harrison Ghee. Both proudly identifying as non-binary, triumphantly claimed the most prestigious theatre awards, defying all odds.
