based on coverage and imagery published on visit to a Boys’ Orphanage in Manila January 17, 2026 | Manila, PhilippinesAs part of its expanding Global Hygiene & Humanitarian Initiative, The Gatsby Showcase Foundation recently conducted a humanitarian visit to House of Sarang, a Christian boys’ orphanage and residential care home in Manila, Philippines.
Founded in 1976 and located in Taguig City, House of Sarang has served for nearly five decades as a place of safety, stability, and healing for boys ages 8 to 17 who have experienced abandonment, neglect, or abuse. The orphanage currently cares for 24 boys, providing shelter, daily meals, education support, counseling, psychosocial services, and spiritual guidance within a long-term, family-style living environment. The name “Sarang,” meaning love, reflects the organization’s mission and daily work.
Advancing Dignity Through Direct Support
During the visit, representatives of The Gatsby Showcase Foundation including founders Dr. Bertrand Fote and Laura Fote, along with the Foundation’s Philippines-based team donated essential food items, basic first-aid supplies and medicines, and personal care and hygiene products for all the boys residing at the orphanage. The Foundation also provided lunch and spent several hours engaging directly with the children through conversation, mentorship, and shared activities.
The visit coincided with Dr. Fote’s birthday, which he intentionally chose to spend in service. In a deeply touching moment, the boys surprised him with handwritten birthday cards and a birthday cake an unexpected gesture that reflected the gratitude, joy, and strong sense of community fostered at House of Sarang.
Shared Voices of Hope and Gratitude
The boys welcomed the Foundation team with songs and performances, proudly sharing their talents and creativity. Both Dr. Bertrand Fote and Laura Fote delivered messages of encouragement, focusing on resilience, self-worth, and the importance of believing in one’s future. The children were highly engaged throughout the visit, asking thoughtful questions and expressing curiosity about education, leadership, and service.
Brother Andrew Hyo Bo Shim, head of House of Sarang, offered a spirited message of appreciation and presented a short video highlighting the orphanage’s mission, history, and impact. Several of the boys also spoke directly, expressing heartfelt thanks for the support and presence of the Foundation.
A Long-Term Partnership, Not a One-Time Act
The Gatsby Showcase Foundation emphasized that this visit marks the beginning of an ongoing partnership, not a one-time donation. The Foundation committed to continued support of House of Sarang as part of its Global Hygiene & Humanitarian Initiative, which will launch as a flagship program in 2026.
This initiative is designed to deliver consistent, dignity-centered humanitarian support, ensuring access to hygiene products, basic healthcare resources, nutrition, and educational encouragement—particularly for children and communities that are often underserved.
Alignment with Global Development Priorities
