The Gatsby Experience Announces The 2022 Appreciation Award Recipients

The 2022 Gatsby Showcase Appreciation Award recipients are Charles DeSantis, Chief Benefits Officer and the Associate Vice-President for University Benefits and Wellness at Georgetown University and our 2021 Gatsby Showcase inaugural ambassador and celebrity makeup artist Derrick Rutledge.

2022 Gatsby Showcase Appreciation Award – Charles DeSantis

Charles DeSantis is the Chief Benefits Officer and the Associate Vice-President for University Benefits and Wellness at Georgetown University. He has devoted his life to giving back to his community and working for wellness of the needy. His humanitarian work spans across continents from Africa where, in 2008, he started an art education program serving AIDS impacted orphans in Kenya, to the US where he has served in many non-profit organizations. His passion for helping others and making a difference is evident through his work with the US Association for UNHCR (UN refugee organization) where he served as chair in 2013, and both the SITAR Arts Center and the Washington Ballet both of which he serves on the board. Charles has been a champion of the Gatsby Showcase Foundation’s mission as it aligns deeply with his calling of giving back to the community. He has been a great mentor to the foundation and a great resource in helping the foundation position itself to achieve its mission.

2022 Gatsby Showcase Appreciation Award – Derrick Rutledge

Derrick Rutledge is a celebrity makeup artist who has built a strong reputation, as

one of the nation’s finest in the industry. With the stroke of a brush and the eye of a master, Derrick Rutledge has claimed his place of the top of the industry. His art has graced the faces of the legendary and the aspiring alike, creating undeniable looks for the celebrity and unforgettable moments for the everyday woman.

His love for humankind has fueled his passion for the work that the Gatsby Showcase Foundation does. He has been a mentor and avid supporter of the foundation, leveraging his network to help raise awareness of the mission and vision of the Gatsby Showcase Foundation.
